Timely Copy
TimelyCopy.Com are professional copywriters. We produce web ready copy for any number of applications.
The most common are:
- Content Copy
- Sales Copy
- Articles
- Blog Posts
- White Paper
- eBooks
Each of these have a different style of writing and appeal to a different audience. We understand the needs and styles of each.
Content Copy
Content copy must be informative and supportive of the sales effort. It must not be seen to be selling. People want information, not a sales letter. If they wish to buy, they will go to your sales pages. This is the appropriate place for selling.
Sales Copy
Sales Copy really only needs to perform 3 functions:
- To clearly describe what is for sale and
- To answer ALL the questions
- To remove the fear of a prospect by removing risk
People will buy once they realise that your product will provide a solution to their needs, and that all of their questions and fears have been answered in a straight forward manner.
Full Site Copy
Imagine playing a game with cards from many decks. The styles and images are all different as are the backing patterns
This is what happens when many people write copy for a site. When someone is reading a site, they quickly learn the style of your voice. If there are many voices, the site becomes a babble and people move on.
If the full site copy is planned and created in one voice, it is more cohesive and persuasive and so more effective.
Articles
A web article is complete in itself. Traditionally web copy in article form is 300 to 600 words in length.
Blog Posts
Blog Posts are usually 250-350 words long, some rants can go to over 1,000 words but this is rare.
White Paper
A white paper is an effective way to distribute marketing material that can add to the sales effort. It is a form of branding and confidence building in one informative bundle. Used properly a white paper can be a very effective convincer in the longer term.
eBooks
An internet phenomenon. eBooks are mostly screen based although some are printed for reading. Most are between 5 and 15 pages long. They are a good way of combining text, diagrams and images with a marketing message. Most are presented as PDFs.
Commercial eBook products are often presented in .exe format. These will have a form of registration and copy protection. We can work with either.
In order to provide a more complete service to our customers we have trained staff able to manage all aspects of the web site life cycle and most aspects of the marketing cycle.
We see these falling into the following categories:
- Analysis & Planning
- Design
- Implementation
- Testing
- Management
- Technical Support
WebSite Creation
Websites come in many flavours. The more common of these are:
- HTML / CSS
- PHP
- A Content Management System (CMS) like WordPress or Joomla
We are familiar with these. We know WordPress well and know how to mix and match page and post formats. We also create websites using HTML and CSS where appropriate.
Web Copywriting
The web behaves as a spoken medium. Methods that were OK for print simply do not work on the web.
People do not read web copy. They scan it. Structure is critical. The story must be told in the headings with the details in the paragraphs.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
There are 2 primary aspects to SEO. They are:
- On-Site SEO and
- Off-Site SEO
These are complementary and cannot function at all alone.
On-Site SEO
On-Site SEO factors are related to the structure, efficiency, navigation and relevance of your web site
Despite the marketing hype, the primary Search Engines, Google, Yahoo and Bing are all doing the same thing. They present a list of sites that are relevant to a keyword entered by a searcher. The key here is relevance. There is little to be gained by using off-topic keywords. people may mistakenly visit your site, but they will just as quickly go away.
The search engines aim to serve their market by presenting better and more relevant sites. They do not penalise poor sites, they do, however reward good sites. In order to rank well, keep your content relevant, do not play games (they are smarter than you think) and keep your sites in tip-top shape. You get marked down for errors and poor performance.
Off-Site SEO
The major factor in Off-Site SEO is popularity. This is shown by the number of good backlinks your site has. Backlinks are a measure of reputation.
Not all web sites are created equal. The Search Engines are currently favouring social sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Technorati. Links from these sites currently carry more weight. This will last for a short time until web marketers flood this link source and it becomes biased.
Back Links
Back-Links are votes of confidence in your website.
If someone considers your site to be worth while, they wish to associate themselves with it. They express this by placing a link in their site pointing to your site. Search Engines count the number and quality of external links to your site and use this number in their algorithm to calculate your rank in web society.
There are legitimate ways to increase this score and so increase the apparent popularity of your site. We know the effective ways that will still be effective in the future.
Marketing
In most cases web sites exist for some commercial reason. They either advertise or sell product. The web site is part of the marketing effort in that it provides information to the customer about the products or services offered by the site owner. In many cases the web site will have a shopping cart to facilitate purchase of product directly from the page.
Article Submission
Article submission is no longer effective if you are submitting the same tired old article to each directory you can find.
As soon as an article appears on more than one site, it is duplicate copy. The search engines determine a rank for the article and guess to determine who originated it. You stand a good chance of passing your link love to another site.
The answer here is to ensure that you submit unique articles to each directory. This increases the apparent value of your branding and gathers many more really unique backlinks. This is the service we offer.
Web Hosting Services
Google recently announced that its new search engine called Caffeine will be released in January 2010. Caffeine will be checking page load time as part of its quality check. Slow sites will be penalised.
This means that sites hosted on el-cheapo, slow servers will not appear in the top pages.
A web site is a business. Can you afford to be penalised for using a poorly performing host?
WordPress is our platform of choice when it comes to new sites and blogs. It is sufficiently flexible to act as a useful Content Management System (CMS). It is very search engine friendly and relates well to the social bookmarking and social networking sites.
Custom Themes
Tired of the Me Too look? Of sites that scream "I Am Standard WordPress". Our custom WordPress themes give your website an appealing look of its own.
WordPress Install
WordPress is simple to install – Yes.
To do a secure install that is not vulnerable to attack by the plethora of worms and viruses specifically targeting WordPress is less easy. Consider the following steps as basic.
- Use a modified table prefix
- Remove the Admin user
- Ensure that "wp-" folders are fully protected at Apache AND operating system level.
- Lock up the Plugins folder
- Remove the display of the WP version in the site code
These are the basic steps to protecting your site. We follow a checklist of steps that is over 20 points long to ensure that your site is safe
WordPress Sale Page
The sales page is possibly the most important page on any site. It must:
- load quickly
- be attractive
- be easy to understand
- answer questions before they are asked
- engender a feeling of trust
- provoke a desired response
WordPress Plugin
A WordPress Plugin is the core of the flexibility of WordPress. It is effectively a small program that manages the formatting and content of a part of the page. Plugins vary from simple structures that list pages or posts in a specified order up to a full on membership system or shopping cart.
WordPress Template
A WordPress template is part of the theme. It provides a unique shape or function to pages or posts. The template is chosen on the edit screen as one of the properties.
WordPress Widget
A WordPress Widget is a subprogram that usually appears in a sidebar. They are often the visible end of a Plugin.
WordPress Shopping Cart
WordPress Plugins cover a wide range of purpose and function. One of the more useful is the Shopping Cart. This piece of software accepts a list of product details including price then manages the merchant interface for products selected for purchase by a customer. It provides a venue to display both hard and soft products on a web page.
