Site security is a must!

If you are lax with your install security you stand a very good chance of having your site hacked. This video shows the results of one such.

Site hacks come in two flavours:

• the first as seen above is done by the human? hand and is considerably more artistic. These are done for the basic desire to destroy and despoil the work of others, to feel better than someone else.
• the second is much more destructive – it is done for purely commercial reasons. The code in a site is replaced by links to forcibly gain backlinks for SEO purposes. These it is done by bots that target the multitude of sites put up by novice players who use Fantastico or other unimaginative scripts that skip steps and use all default settings. To foil these, we make it difficult enough that the bots give up and go looking for easier prey.
