The austere days of plain doors and furniture are gone. Decorative interior doors provide a touch of beauty to a house that to date has been available only to the very well off. Many doors contain glass that is colored or etched with a scene. Another alternative is a door mask. A shaped piece of craft to add shape to the top of a door space that is on the side away from the swing zone of the door can add a certain something to the effect.

Decorative interior doors may be made of wood, steel or aluminum. They may have glass inserts, be carved or powder coated. Many are essentially frames around colored glass inserts. Door styles are now finding their way into the mainstream market from many other cultures. Doors from continental India and Europe are showing their style alongside some of the more home grown artistic styles.
