Long Form Sales Copy
Traditional Long Form Sales Copy is a passing trend. The concept was that the copy be brief enough to get the message across, but long enough to answer every possible question and concern of the prospect. If all the prospect’s concerns were answered, there was no excuse not to buy. Note the double negative. This was how the internet functioned.
There is still a place for long form sales copy. I prefer to mix the copy with media. This does provide a superior result. It provides the opportunity to build a relationship. The text supports the media message and engenders a feeling of "that is correct — I have heard that before". The exercise is one of subtle reinforcement.
Often the formula of:
- Find a problem
- Aggravate it
- Imagine yourself / the world without the problem
- Provide a solution
- Call to action
- Close
Is still effective if not too obviously executed. properly done it is still a very useful formula. The addition of media to text can work wonders.
